The EU and New Zealand – ever growing momentum in the face of the global crisis

An update on EU-NZ Relations, including FTA’s 2nd anniversary, Horizon Europe and ETIAS.

On 27 May in Auckland, the New Zealand Europe Business Council was pleased to host Lawrence Meredith, European Union Ambassador in New Zealand, for an engaging discussion on the growing and increasingly important trade relationship between Europe and New Zealand.

Ambassador Meredith shared valuable insights into the opportunities to deepen collaboration, strengthen economic ties, and foster innovation between our regions. His remarks highlighted the strong foundations already in place and the significant potential for further growth through enhanced trade and investment.

The discussion provided attendees with a deeper understanding of the evolving Europe–New Zealand relationship and the benefits that the Free Trade Agreement between Europe and New Zealand can deliver for businesses, governments, and communities alike. As our regions continue to build stronger connections, the NZEBC hopes to play an important role in creating new opportunities, supporting european businesses to settle into the New Zealand market, and in shaping a more connected and resilient future.

The NZEBC extends its sincere thanks to Ambassador Meredith for sharing his perspectives and contributing to a thought-provoking and informative event.
